For a special issue to be based on a selected number of high-quality conference papers no other journal should be involved. This is essential to maintain our high standard of publication and to avoid any potential conflict of interest. The authors of, say, 20-25 most innovative papers will be invited to submit substantially extended manuscripts with additional original computational materials for possible publication in the special issue of the journal based on the conference by a given deadline. The overlap between the paper submitted for publication in ICAE and the paper published in the conference proceedings should not be more than 50%. Addition of literature review, introductory materials, and examples will not satisfy the condition of a substantially enhanced/different paper.

The extended paper must not have been submitted to any other journal or publication previously. All submissions will be reviewed for originality and significance by at least three (usually five) reviewers using the journal's review form. The Editor-in-Chief will select the best papers in consultation with the Guest editors (normally conference Chair or Chairmen). Not all the invited authors will participate for a variety of reasons (they might have already published their paper in a journal, or submitted to another journal, or may not be able to extend the manuscript in a substantive by the set deadline). Let us say we will receive 15 extended papers. After going through the journal rigorous review process 7-8 papers are finally selected for inclusion the special issue.
